Books That Make You Reexamine How We Care for Our Elderly

As the US population grows and ages, we presently have six million Americans living with Alzheimer's, a number expected to grow. How do we care for them? How do we house them? What should we be doing to ready ourselves for the future?

Larry Carlson is the author of “Avandell—Reimaging the Dementia Experience” by Larry Carlson addresses these very questions. Before becoming the (now retired) President and CEO of United Methodist Communities, Larry worked for two faith-based, non-profit organizations: the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, and the United Church of Christ. He was also Director of Housing at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for the Aged in Boston.
